Introducing Grapefruit & Gorse

Introducing Grapefruit & Gorse

Grapefruit & Gorse is bright, zesty and finely balanced. A crisp citrus lift with a clean edge, softened by the gentle floral sweetness of Scottish gorse. Lightly sparkling and refreshingly dry, it cuts through richness and opens up the layers in your whisky rather than sitting on top of them.

We imagine Grapefruit & Gorse will be a popular partner when you feel like a summer highball. Who said whisky isn't for long, refreshing summer days!

About the gorse

You will know gorse even if you don't know the name. It's the wild, spiny shrub that covers Scottish hillsides in blazing yellow, and it flowers almost all year round. There's an old saying about it. When gorse is out of bloom, kissing is out of fashion.

Get close to it on a warm day and it smells of coconut and vanilla. That soft, honeyed warmth is what balances the grapefruit and stops the whole thing from being overly sharp.

Grapefruit brings the lift. Globally adored in drinks, the zesty shortness of the grapefruit coupled with the soft notes of the gorse make for some pretty magical highball moments.

How to serve it

Tall glass. Fill with ice. One part whisky of choice. Three parts Grapefruit & Gorse. Add a pink grapefruit twist (if you're feeling fancy). Stir. Sip. Enjoy with company.

Who it's for

We like to reach for Grapefruit & Gorse when the sun is out, or you're preparing drinks for the start of the evening, on a warm terrace or after work on a Thursday.

Whisky pairing

We would point you towards the lighter end of the shelf. A softer blended malt has the fruit and the freshness to meet the grapefruit halfway, and the two lift each other rather than competing.

It is also a great one to hand someone who thinks they don't like whisky. Not because it hides anything, but because it helps reveal the whisky in a palatable but still sophisticated way.

And then go exploring

Give Grapefruit & Gorse a go against something richer and smokier and see what the grapefruit does to your palate.

But remember, our pairing ideas are only our view.
